WHAT TO EXPECT

About the treatments

The ayurvedic treatments involve the use of oil, in some cases up to 1/4 gallon! There are no shower facilities at the center, so when making an appointment please make sure you take this into account. It is recommended that you wait at least two hours after a meal prior to receiving any of the treatments. Many of the treatments stimulate your digestion, and it may result in indigestion if you have a full stomach.

During the abhyanga, you will be undressed (we provide a small disposable under garment), as the oil will be massaged over the body. Please let your therapist know beforehand if you require draping. Depending on your dosha, the oil will be absorbed naturally by the skin. Also, after the massage it is better that you have a relaxing day, and not do any stress-related activities. Abhyanga should not be received during menstruation. (If you have an appointment scheduled and you get your menstruation, please make sure you reschedule).

The shirodhara involves almost 1/4 gallon of oil, and the hair will usually be dripping in oil at the end of the treatment. Unfortunately, you cannot wash your head until after 2 hours from receiving this treatment, which means you will likely have to go home with oily hair! You should not have this treatment if you have a fever, are "feverish" or may get fever soon; if you have diarrhea, vomiting, productive asthma (with mucus) or any other mucus/ kapha related conditions. If this is the case, please reschedule your appointment.

Scheduling and Cancellation policy

Your appointment time is scheduled personally for you, and we appreciate you showing up on time to take advantage of the allotted time. Please call 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule your time (you can leave a voicemail).

All Saturday appointments require a $25 guarantee when scheduling. In other words, you will be asked for your credit card information when scheduling. Any non-emergency cancellation will result in a late cancel ($25) or no show fee (50% of scheduled treatment). We value our time, we know that you do too!

Please arrive on time for your appointment. In fairness to the next customer, late arrivals will lose schedule time; we appreciate a call if you are going to be late.

Tipping is left to the discretion of our clients, although very much appreciated by your treatment therapist. Gift cards do not include gratuity unless otherwise noted.
